Advice

Good advice.

"Fear is not Real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me, Danger is very Real, but Fear is a Choice."

The open source lover in me is most excited about an AGPL project I forked and stripped down to a handful of functions while adding a bunch more.
Despite it being built to be easy to set up, I believe a large percentage of my target demographic may not own a computer (using their phone instead).

I think the business model there is selling them a little cluster of mini computers they can self host that back each other up in case one of them is compromised. They could use the same cluster to host other phone accessible little webapp tools.

As I look at monetizing some of the little software tools I am making, I have been told by some of the people I show them to, to look into copyrights.

I do admire a good idea, and more and more- a good business model that keeps people honest and away from the creepy surveillance capitalist ways.

When chatting with some folks and looking into open source licenses, I find myself drawn to closed custom licensing agreements that would lend themselves to one time purchases of self hostable servers, that could run on other hardware, or even be resold, but not duplicated (like selling an instance to a hoster that can serve many people, but the hoster wouldn't be able to create another instance).
In this way, my business model would be selling new instances of my webapp tools for artists, and servicing them.

Any business model/ monetization advice on keeping things open source vs closed and copyright proprietary

Hey, folks

Just a reminder: if a store uses digital price signage, it is both moral and ethical to *literally* steal anything and everything you can from that store. Snag it all. If you can't carry it out, break it and leave it on the shelf. If you can't do that, engage in passive resistance - clog their toilets, buy a $10 item and take two hours to return it, dump used motor oil in their parking lot, spit tobacco juice on the floor.

They change the price on a whim. They're trying to fuck you. They are using your phone conversations and your geolocation data and looking at *the money you have in the bank* so they can charge 20-50% more than an item costs because they know you can't make *two* trips per week. They're waiting until you are desperate and then charging you a PREMIUM for the stuff you need to survive.

Don't be the fuckee. Be the fuck-er. Snatch their merchandise. Break shit. Piss on the floor. Buy a pack of gum and use that reciept to leave a negative review.

Okay, ANOTHER question for the Bartenders of the Fediverse:

The thing I admit I worry about most is having to cut off a customer who might've drank too much. There's so much going on behind the bar and I want to do my best not to overserve when the time comes (fingers crossed I get the position).

I know intoxication and how fast it happens is linked to how much alcohol in a certain amount of time, with or without food, and because of the person's body weight. Lots of factors involved.

What I was thinking is when they're wrapping up their 3rd drink, offering an ice water on principle to hopefully slow down consumption and rehydrate them without coming across as "you might be having too much and need to slow down." I've been around functioning drunks my whole life belligerent angry ones are something I'm not used to, and I suck at confrontation. Working on it, though, because it's a fact of life.

QUESTION: I was wondering if you've ever had to cut someone off or try to slow down their consumption of alcohol before they got to a point where they could end up in jail or you in trouble What were some tricks you pulled in order to get them to comply and do so without getting angry

I've seen some articles and vids about this the past few days, but everybody reacts differently and I wonder if you had to get creative to prevent trouble behind the bar.

Any ideas would be great. Just forming my toolbox so I can be effective and not freeze if this (heaven forbid) happens to me. And Dave Allred has some great ones I just want to be prepared as possible. Thanks again:
