How not to live your life
Are you Mad?

After 15 years of working in an office environment I think Ive come away with one solid piece of advice about trying to be funny at work: dont.

Enjoy being yourself and have positive things in your life. Don't bother with things that you have no way of changing.

A weakness of mine as a Software Engineer is that I have trouble treating the layers of abstraction below where I'm working as a black box for the purpose of *actually getting work done.* This is especially unhelpful in cases where the underlying logic is so spaghettified that I could spend weeks or months trying to figure out the author's intent. Anyone have tips for putting the blinders on and just being a code monkey

Yo, fatties! As a lifetime fatty, let me tell you how to stop being a fatty without the use of Wegovy or Bonjovi or whatever the fuck other names those weight loss medications use. Eat about 1,800 calories a day, walk a mile or two a day, and do a little bit of body weight exercises like push ups or sit-ups each day. You'll lose weight, you'll feel great, and your spouse will love your boner too.

Hello on users out there - I can't decide so I need your . Use the official Nix installer and probably fix it after each macOS upgrade or use the one by which survives upgrades but as far as I can tell also has a number of differences to the official install that I am too noob to judge right now.

All help welcome!

EDIT - in case anyone is curious, the main thing that's confusing / concerning to me is this bit in the Determinate installer description:

> upgrade-nix-store-path-url is set to <>

I can revert it but why do you actually change it and is there a documentation of the differences between your stable and the official

Good advice here!

I'm looking for email host recommendations! :boostRequest:
(since I'm pushing up against the free limit that came with my domain)

- Must be EU hosted.
- Must support IMAP.
- Must use my own domain.
- Attachment limit >= 25 MB.

- Filters would be great.
- Catch-all would be good.
- Can't afford sth. >10/mo.

- No outbound DKIM.

To be honest, starting small with 5/mo would be easier for me. I also need to use this with SPF, but that's pretty much a given anyway.

At my indie web software studio I'm doing open-source (but would happily not see my code being automatically shared to big corps or AI companies (for example) Github to business with).

I saw that settings on Github. Does took time to read the customer agreement and would be willing to tell me in a human-readable way if the differences would be useful for me to sign the Github "Corporate" user agreement

Beekeeper's advice for the day: It's springtime, which is swarming season. If you do *not* want to have to deal with bees in your walls, make sure to either seal up or put mesh over any exterior hole in your house (especially your eaves and siding), particularly holes that are about penny to thumbtack sized.

Hey, looking for and

The situation is that my family sleeps in a caravan. We have a wood burner and keep it cosy at night, but most of winter we'll get frost and ice overnight and there's likely going to be weeks, if not months where we're enveloped in a thick icy fog.

While we're warm and snuggly, there will obviously be a lot of condensation on the walls/windows. We mitigate that with bubble wrap on both sides of the windows, but even still, we find ourselves needing to get rid of curtains every year because of the black mould.

Obviously opening the windows helps by day, but that's not really useful when we're in The Fog for weeks at a time (it's so fucking bleak).

We do have a dehumidifier, but, running off solar leaves it less reliable when it's fog-time.

I was thinking of maybe a vinyl type table cloth and using that as curtains. Something a bit more waterproof would be less likely to hold the moisture, right

Does that sound like a thing that might work

Open to questions and advice (leaving the caravan is not an option).

It took me a while to realize that is extremely dangerous. Not just because of how it deludes you into thinking worse of yourself or that someone is better than you. But it's because really, nobody is perfect.
I saw someone on YouTube say that this 'guy' has no bad takes to which I had to say "Well nobody is perfect though. We still have to accept them even with a few bad takes, because we'd have nobody left to accept and respect otherwise."
