Ask the Therapist for Advice

Dear fluffy Donald,

I have a problem! I don't know what I want to become later. There are so many choices Firefighter, Carpenter, Sportspsychologist, Trapper...and on and on. You have had many different jobs, so I was wondering if you have any advice for me.

Greetings, Gerbert (11)

Donald responds:
Chef, I am a 53-year old man who pretends that he is a duck writing letters. I don't think you want any from me.

, , anyone wildly impassioned by scheduling logistics: please help me order the seven sessions for my little local writers fest :)

Current:
11am childrens literature talk for adults
12pm fanfiction workshop for teens
1pm worldbuilding in fantasy discussion panel
2pm build a hero for romance and romantasy fans
3pm researching family histories for adults (memoirs and historical fic)
4pm short story workshop for beginner writers
5pm open mic

Constraints:
- the teen workshop has to be one of the first two sessions
- the same author is doing the teen workshop and the discussion panel at the moment Ive got them together as at least some teens might stay for both sessions, but the author might need a gap between her sessions for book signing and a break. Teens might need a break too
- in which case, which session would best go between
- I feel like i want the three fantasy-related sessions kept together, but that can be sacrificed
- the build a hero session works best with a glass of wine, so skews a bit later in the day (Id prefer 3 or 4 pm, that is, not glasses of wine )
-the open mic has to go last. Also goes well with wine.

That kidlit session in particular is bothering me, its aimed at adults so feels like it should after the teen stuff, but the topic doesnt feel like it goes late in the day, but I think putting it between the two teen-friendly sessions could scare them off because then theyll feel grouped with the kid stuff

(The websites here for more info about each session if it helps, but the order might change from that given above as I fiddle with it: )

I rely heavily on LLMs in my production workflow process. A notable challenge is the in-built sycophancy.

I find there are a couple of available remediation options:
1. Specifically ask for a hostile structural review.
2. Tell the LLM that the idea is external to you. For added effect, tell it that you are sceptical of claims being made.

If you had a bank account that credited your account each morning with
$86,400, that carried no balance from day to day, allowed you to keep no cash
in your account, and finally every evening cancelled whatever part of the
amount you had failed to use during the day, what would you do Draw out
every cent - of course!
Well, you have such a bank and its name is "Time." Every morning it
credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it rules off - as lost -
whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries no
balances. It allows no balances. It allows no overdrafts. Each day the
bank named "Time," opens a new account with you. Each night it burns the
records of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is
yours.

Dear swarm intelligence, once again I need your wisdom. I need to build a little one-pager website for a reocurring consultant job. It's supposed to be like an extended web-resume, where potential clients can check out my experience and past gigs and get an idea of me and what I do.
Now I do have the means to self-host the thing, but I'm looking for a sevice to build it and export it. Maybe something that offers templates and preferably something that has a basic package for free.

If there ist something you can recommend, it will be greatly appreciated!

In some cases, their advice may indeed be useful. However, there is one crucial element missing: every transition is unique, and there is no single right or wrong way to transition.

Has anyone ever done any kind of monitor ranking based purely on thermal output

Our work/play/and-everything-else space is, let's say, thermally challenged. And while we can make the hotter months slightly better by not playing games and kneecapping our whole computer by disabling 2/3 of the cores, forcing it to it's lowest power state, etc etc, the main heat emitting parts of our setup is our two monitors, which really really output a lot of combined heat.

Of course, display heat output is proportional to screen size so a 34 and 27 inch monitor combined will do more heat output than a 12 inch laptop's display, that is a given. But these monitors get unreasonably hot sometimes.

Does anyone know of any good large factor displays with little to none delta-over-ambient Colour accuracy is the most important factor, followed by lack of ghosting and general stability. Despite being for art and gaming, we can't for the life of us tell 120hz from 165hz so that ain't that big of a factor. So just having lots of space for activities and being able to edit photos and draw on it is really the big item here, besides heat.

here's some tags for discoverability, which makes us feel icky as all hell but, how else is it going to reach anyone
