I'm looking for advice on how to secure a wooden candy cane outdoors.
I'm thinking a steel rod attached via clamps (see example pic). However I am not sure about diameter and length.
Maybe less diameter than a rebar, and the same length as the candy cane Not sure.
Some candy cane stats:
weight: 1.5 lbs
height: 2 feet
wide: 10 inches at the top
width at base: 3 inches
wood is 5/8 inch thick

Especially in the light of the privacy violation Windows 11 is. I for one won't upgrade the Windows 10 machine I keep for playing games.
From now on it's either playable on Linux, or I won't bother with it anymore.

Sorry if this is blatantly obvious to you but after decades of reading different philosophers and so-called holy books I've come down with just one simple rule that helps me try to be a better person: Don't cause grief/harm to anyone! It's surprising how applicable (and sometimes really tough to implement) this is, no matter if it's at my job, marriage, friendships etc.
Turns out I can't really use a kick scooter because I'm too big. Not even fat, just big. Protip: diet and exercise and even hormonal treatment can keep your children from getting too tall. They won't have to eat as much, so they won't have to work as hard to feed themselves as adults. They'll have fewer injuries from falls, less hip and knee problems, and they'll be eligible for jobs like plumbers, horse racing, gymnasts, dancers, miners and building inspectors. Being tall makes you eligible for... ...basketball, and nothing else.YT just randomly recommended me this video "I asked 100 gamedevs their best beginner advice" by BiteMe Games. Interesting, I think it's worth watching and learning from:

I need some general how to be a human advice.
If you see someone crying in public, should you go ask them if they're okay
If they're obviously hurt, it makes sense you should, but let's say they seem physically fine. I'm stuck between wanting to help and not wanting to intrude on what might be a private moment where they need to feel some things.

Crowdsourcing: What tips or actions would you advise an M365 administrator to follow to better secure M365 and prevent a breach
Currently this is my list:
1) Turn on multifactor authentication.
1) SMS/Text is good enough.
2) Basic Microsoft Authenticator is better.
3) Physical token (e.g.: Yubikey) is best.
2) Make use of Conditional Access Policies.
1) Block logins from foreign countries and other geographies.
2) Prompt MFA on riskier logins.
3) Regularly review the audit log.
4) Alert on new mailbox rules.
5) Configure an External Warning at the top of all emails that do not originate from your organization.
6) Ongoing end user training on the warning signs of an attack:
1) Unrequested MFA prompts.
2) Large amounts of SPAM emails.
3) Not receiving expected emails.

On mastodon, following hashtags is something to do.
Use hashtags in your posts, and other people following those hashtags will get them in there feed.
Also, boost! That's the 'algorithm' on mastodon. Not an AI, just people boosting toots.

Heya fedi friends, I'm looking for a bit of advice.
I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to sell old electronics, computers, parts, brony merch, books, car parts/tools, etc. I have probably 200-300 unique items to sell, although some might get bundled up where logical. I would use eBay, but the last time I sold something on the platform they took about 22% of my profits just in fees (NOT taxes), which seems a bit steep.
I'm looking into building a small e-commerce website to sell these items myself. The main goal is to pay less in fees vs eBay, and a secondary goal would be to add "created functional e-commerce website for personal use" or similar to my resume.
I'm currently evaluating WordPress + WooCommerce, but I'd love suggestions. Per-transaction fees are fine (most seem to stay below 3% + $.50) but I want to keep my recurring monthly fees as low as possible. Also, I'm software-savvy but far from a full stack web developer.
Appreciate any guidance!
Useful thing on YouTube for organising for anyone who has a big back catalogue of 'Watch Later' videos which I have used daily for over 10 years.
This trick allows you to put back catalogue videos back at the top. You can click on the dots in the playlist, keep this window open, save to playlist, remove it from that playlist, then add it back again, then leave the window, then those select videos should be back at the top.
This is a great trick. Mine reached 140 videos at one point, mainly due to not having the time to watch them, but most of these videos are anywhere from 10 mins to 30 mins, something to watch during dinner. But sometimes the latest videos get lost among these and sometimes important videos. This trick fixes it.
"What stands in the way becomes the way."
I got this quote from a Medium newsletter that advises to see hard times as an opportunity to really live your values, "to insist on whats right. To fight for change where you can. To put your efforts where they make a positive difference."
Real world problems are complex. Anyone proposing a single "simple solution" doesn't know what they're talking about.
