System Hack: Colony Sim Cortex Lists part 1

Its time to move from theory to practice. As we move on to the next stage of this System Hack, Im going to start taking the elements we discussed in the first set of articles and make them into actual game elements. For today, that means character creation. When we discussed characters for this System Hack, we landed on some pretty straightforward prime sets: Attributes, Skills, and Distinctions. As such, were going to lock in our Attributes and Skills. For Distinctions, the number Id want to write is perhaps a bit high to cover comprehensively in one article, but I am going to lock in what the three Distinctions each character has are, what they do mechanically, and how theyll be roughly categorized.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has been seduced by the siren call of the streaming services and has slowly dispatched with their physical media collection over the years. I feel like such a fool.

Anyway, no time for regret. I've cancelled all the subscriptions and am beginning to re-establish my music collection (videos are next).

I've managed to hold on to a hundred or so of my LPs and have begun scouring thrift stores for CDs. My plan is to rip the music to FLAC files, host them on a Navidrome server on PikaPods (), and stream to my devices with Symfonium.

I'm using UAC to rip the CDs and Audacity to record the LPs. MP3tag to clean up any metadata.

Any tips or advice would be welcome. And, if I come across anything interesting in the process, I'll post it here.

Bleh, still running a fever (although I managed to sleep earlier and the fever is going down ever so slightly).

Figured I'd have fun with this, so what are your personal fever remedies Or your family/friend ones, etc I usually take 500mg of Tylenol every 6 hours or so, hot showers (partially for the steam if it's a sinus/respiratory thing), drink literal gallons of water, and pile on the blankets and sheets. Curious what other folks do though.

As a bonus, the *worst* remedy I ever heard of belonged to a coworker ages ago, who swore that clove cigarettes would cure basically any sort of transmissible disease. Wonder if that lady is still alive
