Hi British people
Did you get a job abroad (after Brexit) and move
How difficult was it Is your area particularly in demand, did you feel outcompeted by 'the locals', what do you think got you over the line..
It all feels impossible to me. Why would anyone want to hire an insular (mostly*) mono-lingual Brit who needs a visa when they could just... Not
Sigh. Boosts appreciated!
*to clarify, I know a little about a handful of languages, I'm just not fluent in a second as I've never been able to immerse. School French, German and Latin, self-directed Russian & Norwegian. I find languages interesting, have some aptitude and sure I would pick up fine if immersed.
Hello, everyone! If you guys ever come out to anyone, whether it's your family or friends, watch out for invasive questions they may ask:
"So you crossdress to express yourself"
"So you like taking it up there Did you contract anything bad as a result"
"How far along are you in your transition"
"What kind of effects are you getting from HRT"
"Got any surgeries done"
These are the invasive questions you should look out for. If they ask those, and it makes you feel uncomfortable, you can either remind them nicely, or stern and rude. If they still keep that up, cut them off and make your message clear.
It's important to just listen and accept. Respect is key, don't be judgmental or ask these invasive questions.
How to Win Peoples Hearts
10 Simple Habits That Make a Lasting ImpressionIn a world where everyone wants to be heard, understood, and appreciated, winning people's hearts isn't about being rich, famous, or perfect. It's about how you treat others every day. Genuine kindness, respect, and honesty can build relationships that last a lifetime. Here are ten simple ways to win people's hearts.1. Be Kind to EveryoneKindness never goes out of style. A warm smile, encouraging words, or a small act of generosity canI wrote a blog post about saying the word "no" and how I've come to appreciate it as I get older, for various reasons, and nothing to do with being an angry ogre. Vitamin No
Daily writing prompt What do you love now, that you hated when you were youngerUgh, when I as younger I had very little emotional discipline and regulation. This made me basically say yes to so many things I should have said no to. I was so consumed with wanting to fit in or be included, it completely warped my sense of yes or no.
Everyone has different experiences, but wow, did my 20s suck. I chased quick fixes of happiness, whether it was jobs, media, materials, food, sex, or people. I was constantly trying to fill a void of not being enough, or at least feeling that way. I think the independence I received in my 20s allowed my body to feel the trauma of what a relatively emotionally rough childhood had been for me, and instead of feeling that pain I distracted myself by saying yes to way too many things.
I wasnt prepared for that awakening, so I drowned myself. I eventually got help via DBT skills class and therapy in my 30s. It is a battle each day.
Now, older, the hallowed word no has become far more popular in my identity vernacular. I dont cage and prevent myself from trying new things, I just know and enjoy my limits as a person a little bit more.
Having boundaries, protecting my physical and mental health, and keeping toxic people in a specific territory, has made my life infinitely more bearable. When the yes comes naturally it feels good, but it is the no where you actually accept your identity.
Again, I dont say it to everything. I have a bit of an internal rubric, three strikes policy with stuff. There is complexity to every situation. New points-of-view, diversity, and learning has a different interaction with me. Again, every person and situation is different.
I just feel a bit better saying no and I wish I could send that ability back to my younger self. That confidence is a product of experience sadly. I was afraid to say it, but I wish I had. It hurt me. It hurt people. Im certainly not perfect at it, and I continue to make mistakes and try to learn from them.
I guess Im just not as afraid to say it anymore. I dont love the word no but I love that Im understanding what it means when I use it, or even when others use it. It is a very enlightening word.
Too much of it in this worldand too many people who espouse it. Make sure you separate the wheat or the quality from the ish.

Single Arm Overhead Tricep Extension
The single-arm overhead triceps extension is an excellent isolation exercise because it trains the triceps through a long range of motion, especially the long head, which crosses the shoulder joint.
Keep your elbow pointed upward.
Brace your core.

Organize Your Fediverse Timeline A Simple Method
Today I remembered my early days on the Fediverse, two years ago. After a period rich in discoveries and experiences, Im sharing the method I use to organize my global timeline aimed at those who sometimes feel a bit lost.
This method is straightforward and works across the various networks of the Fediverse.
First, once youve created your account, the very first thing to do even before following lots of people is to create lists.
I recommend starting with a list dedicated to the profiles you want to see consistently on your main timeline. In that lists settings, enable the do not hide from timeline option, then add the profiles you want to appear directly in your feed.
Next, create other lists by theme (tech, art, monitoring, news, etc.). For these, choose the hide from timeline option. Add all new profiles to the list that matches their theme.
Once these lists are well stocked with quality content, you can integrate them into your main timeline gradually, one by one. Be sure to review each lists settings and check do not hide from global timeline so the lists content is correctly released into your global feed.
This way, youll have a clearer, more pleasant, and better-controlled timeline.
