This isnt about what you think. It's about the people of the future. If a minor inconvenience to you isn't worth their future, then who's to say a minor inconvenience isn't worth anything to yours

hi everyone! :flower:
i wanted to share a couple of projects that have been incredibly useful to me. GetMoarFediverse and FakeRelay by on github have been excellent tools for pulling more statuses on specific tags. they provide an effective way to relay without overwhelming your mastodon server.

It's also worth remembering that you're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you, so if the work or company don't excite you, or the person interviewing you doesn't seem like someone you could get along with or really isn't anyone you'd like to get to know, don't be afraid to give it a hard pass, and trust something better and more suitable will turn up.

A friend of mine once said that if you're going to be spending eight hours (or more) per day with someone, five days per week, you'd best get on with them.

To put it another way, this same friend pointed out that most people spend more time with their work colleagues than their spouses. :O

Morning, everyone! If you're going for a job interview today, remember that personality, attitude, and likeability are super important. At least as much as skills and experience, if not more so.

If you needed to choose between two people of the same race (in South Africa, race is a legal hiring criteria), gender, disability status, etc, and with a very similar set of skills and experience, you'd hire the one you like the most. You might even try to get away with hiring the one with slightly LESS skills and experience, if they were more likeable. It's just human nature: people want to work with people they get on with.

So work on your social skills. Be yourself at all times, don't try to be someone you're not, but also try to present the best parts of yourself in a way that's relatable and identifiable, and makes people excited to get to know you better.

Just my 2c for this morning. :-)

Hello friends on the Fediverse! I wanted to share this cool front-end for Mastodon that might interest you. Really changes the look and feel. It's called Bird UI:

It does get me up to 16, though, which is the number of hot chocolate charms I want to make...

The creation: each charm has the hot chocolate on one side and a unique image on the other.

The plan: during I'll go for a hot chocolate walk every Wednesday. I'll go 5+ km per stop and hand over a random charm at every stop, no more than 3-4 stops in a day, so 16 max.

Any thoughts of things that need a tweak or things I ought to be making instead
