I tried to dye a linen skirt with an in wash dye (darkest shade of blue), but it turned out patchy. I've bought the same brand of dye and colour, but to do in a bucket this time.

Do I need to strip the first dye from the skirt, or can I dye it as as is I'm not sure if the darker patches will still show as blotchy colouring.
