AdviceA quotation from Wilcox, Ella Wheeler:
It is impossible to pursue a successful literary career and follow the advice of all ones best friends. I have received severe censure from my orthodox friends for writing liberal verses. Goes without saying, in light of the US election results. The power of truth goes a long way. And it's an unstoppable power. You can find solace in that.
If rights are taken away, take theirs first. These sort of actions cannot be forgiven. The same applies to the opposite side if there is somehow any truth in that.
Mental gymnastics is the lowest point of argument/debate.
When ever you dismantle an argument or faade, people will jump to the next 'best' thing, or worst as I see it.
Which is where the gymnastics come in.
But I guarantee you, if they're in the wrong, there's absolutely nothing they can do if you say this:
"Demonstrate your point." That's when you know when you've either won or lost an argument. Those who understand will be able to demonstrate, those who don't, will fall to the lowest point and rely on any tactic but the reliable one.
In light of the political situation in the US, it's important to remember that no matter who's voted in, it's often built on lies. And moral atrocities stay as moral atrocities, that will be remembered and held against people.
I know in the UK here, we had the far right as government for over 10 years, and luckily nothing too bad happened to memory, until Covid anyway. Where they essentially committed genocide. That is literally the worst case scenario. This can easily happen again thanks to animal agriculture.
So yes, the scaremongering is real, this Project 2025 is something that likely won't happen because of how absurd it is, it's literally a script of baseless claims with no demonstrable evidence or reasoning. But regardless, you should always prepare for the worst.

One of the most accurate ways to describe and even the more controversial paraphilias/fetishes is with the shape toys, because these are the lows we have to use to describe it to people who don't understand or conflate/strawman then with each other.
Circle, square and star holes.
Let's say you got your gender preferred sexuality as a circle.
You got paraphilias as a square.
Finally you got fetishes as the star.
Now try to group them.
You can't.
Do you know why
Because they're separate things. They're not linked. They belong to their respective categories and nothing else. I can't believe this has to be explained. Like if somehow people attracted to men are 'pedophiles', then so too are straight people, so too are people with a foot fetish. The point is, they're not the same thing.
Nerds! This old house has a lot of interior walls that used to be exterior walls, HVAC in some unfortunate places, and an internet connection coming from down in the scary basement. It's giving me a lot of wifi dead spots. Any recommendations on choosing between:
1) Crafty running of coax to get the router to a better spot
2) Wifi repeaters
3) Powerline extenders
4) Mesh networks
I work from home, so it's important that this function correctly and reliably.

One of the harsh realities about living with physical/mental disabilities I suppose is the fact that they're not always compatible with each other (Even other people). Even with something like being on the autism spectrum or having ADHD or schizophrenia, there are always going to be issues. Though the conflict arises more in able bodied folk, it exists too in the not so abled.
Which often begs the question, would we be better without disabilities
As of the here and now, I stand with disabilities. Because it is the only path forward at the moment. The more we try to understand and accept them, the less weight there is off our shoulders, and the less selfish we are in turn.
So it is important to acknowledge this with not only a present point of view, but a future one too. If there are no advancements in going into the future, we need to create them now.
Hello, makers and crafters and engineers and anyone else who can help.
How to preserve this
I have... let's say "liberated"... a sign that was on the side of the road in my small town for a few years, and was eventually pulled down or fell down.
Right when the pandemic started (IIRC) this rusted sign got sprayed with the word "HOPE". Nothing else, just that word. It was visible in a little greenspace between the two tiny towns here. It was on a 10-foot (ish) post next to decommissioned train tracks parallel to the road. I tried to photograph it several times but never really captured it. This sign is meaningful to me.
It fell down or was taken down (suspiciously, right when the state police built a station across the road, though it maybe just fell down). That was almost two years ago.
Tonight I brought it home. It is now my baby. I want to preserve and enhance the "HOPE" graffiti, which has faded in the months sitting in the grass.
the sign is an old slab of steel (maybe 3/16" (4-5mm) thick IDK, it weighs at least 40 lbs/18kg). Very rusted, but also solid.
How to preserve this message I'd prefer to simply highlight what is there, not repaint anything. Any ideas

Whilst that sounds like some cheesy war quote (probably Sun Tzu said that first), it's actually a great piece of advice for life.
Overwhelming odds are easy to get scared of and even give up for. But I would argue there's more bitterness in that than trying to succeed.
This applies to human rights. This applies to animal rights. It applies to the whole fucking universe, inside and outside human comprehension.
An appeal to popularity/tradition/authority tends to fail. Because it is often inherently flawed and self-defeating.

Saying "People who are stupid deserve what's coming to them" is very flawed when you yourself are not an expert in any other areas.
Imagine trying to play or learn something you've never done before and being called out on that. That's what this is.
For example: Chess. If you don't know how the pieces work, well, people will call you stupid.
So stop calling each other stupid and deserving of consequences. At least be constructive if you're going to say something.
